EMI Gage is your complete source for stylus repair and replacement, and for new and custom styli as well. When you’re dealing with a damaged probe, we work hard to get you back up and running, fast.

Stylus Repair

EMI Gage capabilities include microscopic evaluation of diamond tips, setting diamonds, precision grinding, machining, assembly, and component replacement. Our repair estimates are always free, and we only make repairs if they’re required.

We can typically repair styli within one week—for less than 1/3 the cost of OEM replacement. Simple repairs can often be completed in a day, and even complex repairs can often be expedited within 2–3 days.

We replace or repair styli from all major instrument manufacturers, including smaller companies such as ABtech, PCM, and QPM—even companies that are no longer in operation!


Replacement Probes and Styli

EMI Gage can manufacture replacements for virtually any surface roughness, roundness, or contour probe.

Diamonds (Surface Roughness)

EMI Gage sources the finest diamonds (points) available for surface roughness measurement. The last 30 µm of the tip is highly polished to provide very consistent data over peaks and edges. This exceptional quality lets us guarantee that the tip radius will meet all ISO and ASME standards. 2, 5 and 10 µm radius. 60° and 90° cone angle in stock for all radius sizes; 30° and 40° also available.

Balls (Roundness, Radius, Contour, Profile, Form)

We offer a wide range of standard Grade 5 ruby and carbide balls (no more than 5 millionths out of round). We can also source non-standard materials and sizes through our vendors, typically for shipment within a few days. Ball diameter from 0.3 mm (0.12 in) up to 10 mm (0.39 in) or even larger. Materials include ruby, nylon, silicon nitride, carbide, zirconia, Teflon®, sapphire, and diamond.

Carbide Contour Measurement Probes

Our replacement contour measurement probes are available for a wide range of instruments and tip materials. We also manufacture tungsten carbide probe tips for all major contour measurement gages. Visit the Carbide Contour Tips page to see our inventory and to order
